I've been thinking of writing something about sponsored posts, quite long time__ mostly, when I was getting some ridiculous offers from some companies, and today, I finally decided to share with you my thoughts, (called them advices,) about sponsored posts.
1. Don't rush.
Wait until you gain some followers and certain number of page views a month, because having sponsored posts on your blog, when you are just starting to establish your online presence, will not help to grow your blog. Just imagine, you are visiting some newbie blog where there are mostly sponsored posts and can't get a chance to get to know a blogger herself, I don't think you will have a desire to go back to that blog again.
I personally, started accepting sponsored posts when I got around 3000 page views a month.
2. Appreciate your time and work.
Don't accept to publish sponsored posts for any rate that companies will offer you. Appreciate your
time and the hard work you put in each post.
I'm not going to tell you exact rates you have to have for your blog, but I can certainly tell you what you must not accept: $10 per sponsored post is absolutely ridiculous rate, so don't accept it, don't underestimate yourself. Remember, how much time you spend for each post: writing, editing photos, promoting your post on your social media and commenting other blogs __ doesn't all this take at least 3 hours of your day? So, I believe that each hour of your work is worth more than $3 or $4 .

So, I believe that each hour of your work is worth more than $3 or $4 .
Even though, most bloggers usually don't write details about their rates, I decided to tell you about my personal experience: I charged $30 for my first sponsored post, a few months ago. That time, I had less than 500 followers on Bloglovin, and less than 200 followers on Google +. Since then, my rate has increased because now I have close to 3000 followers on Bloglovin.
3. Try to publish sponsored posts that matches your niche.
For example, If you are fashion/beauty blogger and accept sponsored posts about some home supply products, or promoting some cleaning detergent brands, or something like that, you will, for sure, loose your readers. So keep that in mind when you get some sponsored opportunity.
I know, there is so much more to write about, but this time, I will stop here.
I hope, this was helpful at least for some of you.
Have a nice day lovely girls.

I agree with all these tips -- especially about only choosing ones that fit with your blog!
ReplyDeletewww.amemoryofus.com
This is such a coincidence since I just got two emails about posts like this. One didn't say that any compensation was involved, so I asked. Another was clearly translated from a different language and asking for a post in exchange for points on their site. I like to be more direct now, instead of flirting my way around the subject of payment. I have gotten some bad offers and once took them when I was "desperate" for collaborations. Now, I take my time!

That's great , Megan that you are more direct, you should not feel shy about letting companies know your rate, what your time is worth. Thanks for sharing your experience, dear. xx

These are some very good points, I myself have received tons of ridiculous offers in the past, and few times I had someone reply to me in a very unprofessional matter when I said "no thank you" to their offer. I spend so much time and effort working on my blog, use expensive equipment and refuse to someone take advantage of that. It's definitely important to know your worth and sometimes it's better to wait for a more interesting offer to come by than accept a ridiculous one. There are tons of lovely companies that are very blogger friendly and very professional. Great post!

ReplyDeleteMelanie @ meandmr.com
I had to turn down quite few sponsor's request. Because after I checked their reviews online I am not feeling right to promote them just for money or free produce due to their low rating. I have the responsibility to protect my followers those companies. As a blogger, we have inference and we have the responsibility to tell the truth.
